I love the work we do at Clean Water Action- protecting waters and put drinking water first, protecting health by reducing exposure to toxic chemicals and protecting our environment by promoting renewable energy. Aligning with corporate partners like Aveda, who share our mission and do amazing work worldwide to protect water and produce sustainable products derived from plants makes our work even better!

Aveda is an amazing organization that truly incorporates their mission into the work they do and the difference they make is extraordinary. Every April, Aveda salon owners and stylists host wonderful events, like the Catwalk Fashion Show, donate proceeds from the sale of Aveda products and provide free haircuts and treatments--all to raise money for clean water!! Since 1999, Aveda has raised more than $50 million to support organizations that protect the environment and water—and Clean Water Action is one!

That is why I was so excited to attend Aveda's Earth Month celebration at the beautiful Salon 22 in Glastonbury. Suzanne, the owner, was a terrific host and I was honored to spend time with her and other Aveda employees, to learn more about Aveda's tremendous work world-wide to support clean water. As the Coordinator of the Coalition for a Safe and Healthy CT, I am also thrilled to learn more about their commitment to using safer products, which is not only great for Aveda guests but also for the stylists and the environment! In fact, when I walked into Suzanne’s beautiful salon, there were no toxic chemical smells, only the fresh, beautiful scent of the “Light the Way” candles. For this Earth month, every dollar made from the sale of these beautiful candles went to support Clean Water Action and other organizations just like ours.

While at Salon 22, I met many of Suzanne’s colleagues and friends that also came out to support Earth Day and Aveda’s mission. It was so nice meeting people from diverse fields and backgrounds, all working in unique ways to protect this beautiful planet we call home. I hope you all will stop by Salon 22 in Glastonbury to learn more about their work and how each of us, through the products we purchase and the choices we make  about where to shop, can make a significant difference for our environment.

Thank you Aveda and thanks to all my new friends at Salon 22!
