The law that is supposed to protect us from the health effects caused by toxic chemicals is not working.
The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) does not prevent us from being exposed, every day, to chemicals like formaldehyde, lead, and asbestos. These are cancer-causing chemicals and also result in reproductive problems and many other diseases.

We are paying for the continued use of unsafe chemicals in health care costs and in our water bills. This problem can be solved with prevention.
This spring Senator Lautenberg and colleagues introduced S. 847 The Safe Chemicals Act of 2011 which will help fix our chemical safety system in several important, common sense ways. There is overwhelming public support for reducing the impact of chemicals on human health and the environment. We need your help to create a surge of support in Congress too.
Please let your US Senators know you support efforts to prevent health threats from toxic chemicals, and ask them to co-sponsor the Safe Chemicals Act.
