Protect the Edwards Aquifer from Sewage

The city of Dripping Springs wants to discharge up to 995,000 gallons of treated sewage. every day, into Onion Creek, a pristine waterway that provides more than 40% of the recharge for the Barton Springs portion of the Edwards Aquifer. Even when treated, sewage effluent contains an excess of nutrients that choke waterways with algae, deprive the water of oxygen, and lead to fish kills.

Contact your legislators today and tell them to support legislation (HB 3467 / SB S.B. 1796, and HB 3036) to ban future discharges of treated sewage into waterways within the Edwards Aquifer contributing and recharge zones.
