40 Years of Action for Clean Water

Big Oil & the Tea Party

shared sacrifice: no more tax breaks for big oil!

We’re being gouged at the gas pump.  At the same time oil and gas companies are getting sweetheart deals as fracking drills more and more of Northern Colorado. The top five oil companies have already made over $67 billion dollars in profits in the first half of this year.  To make matters worse, Congress is not only continuing to give huge tax breaks to these oil companies, but is contemplating making them even bigger. 4th District Rep. Cory Gardner is leading the charge.

Stand up for the environment!  No more tax breaks for big oil!

Washington talks about shared sacrifice, but the only thing we’re being asked to sacrifice is our environment. It makes no sense to give billions in taxpayer handouts to Big Oil while our national debt climbs to a record $14 trillion dollars.

Next week, the Tea Party group funded by oil, gas, and coal companies called “Americans for Prosperity” is rolling through Colorado with their "Running on Empty" tour. They’re demanding that oil companies receive even more concessions and tax breaks.  Enough of this nonsense--oil companies aren't running on empty, but America’s environment is!

Please join Clean Water Action, allies, and concerned citizens as we answer the AFP's "Running on Empty" tour with our own message: "End Big Oil's Tax Breaks."

Here are the "Running on Empty" tour stops in your area:

  • WHEN: Wednesday, August 24th at 8:30-9:30AM
  • WHERE: Lincoln Park, Gazebo, Corner of 10th Avenue and 7th Street, Greeley, CO
  • WHEN: Wednesday, August 24th at Noon
  • WHERE: Civic Center Park, 225 LaPorte Avenue, Ft Collins, CO
  • WHEN: Wednesday, August 24th at 6:00PM
  • WHERE: Boulder County Fairgrounds, Picnic Shelters, Corner of Hover and Nelson, Longmont, CO

This is your opportunity to be a leader for the environment.  Bring a sign and bring some friends.  Let’s tell Big Oil that America’s environment and our health will not be sacrificed to line their pockets with cash!

Thank you for your support of Clean Water Action!
