Four Decades

40 Years of Action for Clean Water

From the Colorado Director

protecting your rights

Gary Wockner

Gary Wockner

By Gary Wockner, Colorado Program Director

We’ve had a busy summer at Clean Water Action in Colorado. Our door-to-door campaign is moving forward to protect the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) a federal grant program that provides funding for parks, open space, and water recreation across Colorado. We’ve knocked on thousands of doors encouraging our supporters (you!) to contact Congressman Cory Gardner to encourage him to support LWCF.

In addition, our phone campaign is generating letters of support to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Denver which is under attack in the Congress and elsewhere. EPA has done a great job in Colorado and they need our support!

It’s been a long hot summer here along the Front Range of Colorado. We’ve been keeping track of lots of issues, including:

  • Fracking regulations in gas wells in northern Colorado and across the state
  • Water supply policies of state and local water districts
  • River protection policies of state and local water districts
  • Laws passed by the State legislature to protect Colorado’s environment
  • Laws proposed by the U.S. Congress to undermine Colorado’s environment
  • The Hickenlooper administration’s first few months in office and how well it protect Colorado’s environment
  • The Obama administration’s work to move forward climate change and clean water protection policies.

As you might guess there’s never a dull moment! When a community organizer knocks on your door or calls you on the phone, please help us out. We are all working every day to protect Colorado’s environment and protect your right to clean air, clean water, and clean energy across our great state.

Thank you for your support!
