Four Decades

40 Years of Action for Clean Water

Moving forward

Protecting our wetlands

the president: protecting our wetlands

Clean Water Action is thrilled to see the EPA and the Obama Administration continue our nation's clean water progress by moving the "Waters of the U.S." Guidance to the next stage. As the White House said in April 2011, clean water is the foundation for healthy communities and a healthy environment.  We agree. Sending the Guidance to the Office of Management and Budget is a powerful statement that ALL of our water deserves protection under the Clean Water Act.
These wetlands and streams lost their Clean Water Act protection during the previous administration. Since then Clean Water Action and our million members have been working to close these polluters’ loopholes. Today’s announcement is a big step forward.  It is also a sharp contrast to recent actions in the Congress to attempt to weaken protections for even more of our nation’s water.  While we commend the White House, we know that the fight is far from over and we're ready to continue the fight for a clean water future!
