Oil and Gas Task Force Recommendations

Governor John Hickenlooper created the Colorado Oil and Gas Task Force which was charged with conducting public hearings and making a series of public policy recommendations to the Colorado State Legislature regarding oil and gas operations in Colorado.

In November 2015, the Governor released the Task Force’s findings and recommendations. After the tens of thousands of comments, the nine recommendations were void of meaningful recommendation on increasing the distance oil wells are to be set back from homes and schools. This was a key concern heard throughout numerous neighborhoods about the local public health impact of having fracking adjacent to their backyards.
