Four Decades

40 Years of Action for Clean Water

Fact Sheets: All About Fracking

Whatever else this new and controversial method of drilling has generated, it has certainly generated a great deal of questions. To aid in answering the most common questions, Clean Water Action has prepared this four-part primer on the fracking process itself, its associated dangers, pertinent laws (or lack thereof) that regulate it, and our proposed regulatory solutions.

Fracking: The Process

This fact sheet gives a step-by-step overview of how fracking is used as a gas extraction method.

Fracking: The Dangers

This fact sheet details the dangers that fracking poses to public and environmental health.

Fracking: Laws and Loopholes

This fact sheet covers the state and federal laws that govern the practice - and notably, which laws have loopholes carved out of them in order not to apply to fracking.

Fracking: What We're Doing About It

This fact sheet provides a comprehensive list of the new regulations that Clean Water Action is proposing to make natural gas wells that utilize fracking practices in Michigan operate as safely as possible.
