As depicted in Participant Media's documentary, Last Call at the Oasis, the United States faces a significant crisis in terms of water quality and quantity. Our aging infrastructure, overuse of chemical pollutants, and inefficient practices are wasting our most precious resource, and we must take action now. In the coming months, this message will be delivered to members of Congress and state governors asking them to make water issues an ongoing priority.
Clean Water Action is proud to be an official ally of this important movie and campaign. Join us in supporting this effort to protect our water by taking action today.
Tell Congress to Act Now
As states continue to pass laws protecting our health and environment from toxic chemicals, Congress lags behind. In the past several years real progress was made at the state level, such as 10 states banning Bisphenol A (BPA) from select children’s products. Meanwhile, Congress has taken little action toward advancing the Safe Chemicals Act. Tell them to act today!
This inaction has consequences. Over the past decades, incidences of early puberty, certain childhood cancers, infertility, and learning and developmental disabilities has increased. Studies show links between toxic chemicals we’re exposed to every day and many of these negative health trends. Flame retardants, plasticizers and other harmful chemicals are showing up in our lakes, rivers and groundwater, harming aquatic life and the health of our water.
Toxic chemicals will continue to pollute our bodies and water until Congress passes the Safe Chemicals Act, which will protect American families from harmful chemicals. Tell Congress to act now by signing this petition
