Shayla is the Environmental Health & Justice Organizer for Clean Water Action in Boston. Shayla has a passion for art and community. Before joining the Clean Water team in October 2019, Shayla worked with Teen Empowerment, Opportunity Youth Collaborative (OYC) and Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI), where she developed a passion for empowering the current generation to be more politically inclined, especially youth of color.
In her position she is building on the early success of Clean Water’s Youth Action Collaborative following the rise of activism within the younger generation and encouraging more intergenerational collaboration. In addition she is working to educate and engage Clean Water members and allies regarding the hazard of toxic chemicals in everyday products and solutions to creating safer communities.
