Clean Water Action Endorses Andy Levin for 9th Congressional District

Monday, July 23, 2018

LANSING- Today, Clean Water Action announced its endorsement of Andy Levin for Michigan’s 9th Congressional District.

“Andy Levin is a strong advocate for protecting the Great Lakes and increasing investment in renewable energy in Michigan to combat climate change,” said Mary Brady-Enerson, Clean Water Action Michigan Director. " Michigan deserves more representation from leaders who are willing to stand up for the Great Lakes, and protect the progress that we’ve made on environmental issues from the dirty water agenda of the Trump administration,” concluded Brady-Enerson.

In 2005, Andy was arrested along with his Rabbi Fred Dobb, Bob Massie, and other civic leaders in Washington, DC while they demanded that the Bush administration not allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. More recently, he worked to develop a unique statewide clean energy finance market called Lean & Green Michigan, which implements Michigan’s PACE statute and counts 34 local jurisdictions representing 67% of all Michiganders as members. Lean & Green Michigan arranges financing for any combination of energy efficiency, water efficiency and renewable energy improvements to commercial, industrial, multifamily or nonprofit buildings. To date, they have facilitated financing for clean energy retrofits valued at over $12.5 million. Every project they undertake reduces our carbon footprint and puts skilled tradespeople to work in well-paying jobs.

“Andy’s advocacy on behalf of our Great Lakes and natural areas across the country has been substantial and far-reaching. We definitely need hardworking and principled advocates like Andy Levin in Congress,” said Brady-Enerson. “We are proud to endorse Andy’s campaign for the 9th congressional district, and look forward to working with him as a legislator. The choice is clear – Andy Levin for Congress.”
