Monday, August 27, 2018

LANSING- Today, Clean Water Action announced its endorsement of Gretchen Driskell for Congress in Michigan’s 7th District.

“Here in Michigan, we need congressional representatives who understand the importance of protecting the Great Lakes and ensuring that Michigan residents have clean, affordable drinking water," said Mary Brady-Enerson, Clean Water Action Michigan Director. "We are confident that in Congress, Gretchen Driskell will advocate on behalf of our Great Lakes and stand firmly against the Trump administration’s dirty water agenda,” concluded Brady-Enerson.

Gretchen Driskell is running for the 7th Congressional District seat against incumbent Tim Walberg, who currently has a 0% environmental voting record on key votes that have been tracked for inclusion in Clean Water Action’s upcoming federal scorecard. Walberg voted to remove stream and wetland protections, to fast track approval for oil and gas pipelines, and to make it easier for fossil fuel corporations to influence  EPA’s scientific review process. In her time serving in the state house, Gretchen stood up to the fossil fuel industry by calling for a moratorium on fracking in Michigan, and consistently advocating for better protections for our lakes, rivers, and streams.

“Gretchen Driskell understands and values the fact that our state is surrounded by over 20% of the world’s fresh water resources. She is a proven leader who will stand up for the Great Lakes and our environment,” said Brady-Enerson. “We are proud to endorse her campaign and look forward to working with her in Congress. On November 6th, the choice is clear – Gretchen Driskell for Congress.”
