Thursday, July 23, 2020

LANSING- Today, Clean Water Action announced its endorsement of Kara Hope for the Michigan State House.

“Through her first term in Lansing, Kara Hope has shown herself to be one of the top environmental advocates in the State House," said Mary Brady-Enerson, Clean Water Action Michigan Director. "From standing with indigenous water protectors who walked to Lansing protesting Line 5 to strongly supporting bills to hold polluting corporations accountable, Representative Hope has been a consistent champion for our water,” concluded Brady-Enerson.

Representative Hope began her first term by introducing a bill to stop the use of fracking water on roads as a dust suppressant. She has also introduced legislation to ban SLAPP suits in Michigan, and successfully advocated against a proposed oil and gas well that could have threatened groundwater in her district in the city of Mason.

“As we continue to face challenges stemming from corporate polluters, failing and underfunded water infrastructure, and the strong influence of fossil fuel money on our political process, I can think of no one better to represent the residents of the 67 th district than Kara Hope,” said Brady-Enerson. “We are proud to endorse her campaign for re-election and are excited to continue working with her to protect the waters that define our state. The choice is clear – Kara Hope for Michigan State House.”
