Washington, DC -- Clean Water Action President and CEO, Bob Wendelgass, released the following statement.
“President Trump is a danger to the nation. He must resign or be removed from office now, either through action under the 25th Amendment or through impeachment in the House and conviction in the Senate.
After months of shouting lies about the election, refusing to concede, and attempting to coerce elected officials into breaking the law, he incited seditious actions, including by white supremacists, to attack and seize the Capitol.
Five people are dead because the President said, ‘If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,’ and ‘you don’t take back our country with weakness,’ before he set the mob loose. He has demonstrated that he is unfit for office.
We applaud the House of Representatives for introducing a resolution calling on Vice-President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment and for introducing Articles of Impeachment. The President and his allies must be held accountable. We can’t move forward unless these dangerous actions have consequences.”
