Taking Back Our Power

Michiganders suffer when corporations are allowed to use their political dollars to strongarm our elected officials. For example, DTE and Consumers Energy have dumped millions into Lansing to escape accountability - and we pay the highest electric rates in the Midwest and suffer the worst power outages.

We can no longer allow monopoly corporations and powerful state contractors to buy their way out of accountability and drown out the voice of the people.

We need to take action. We need to take our power back.

You're invited to join the Taking Back Our Power campaign launch on February 22nd at UAW Local 600 in Dearborn. This event marks the beginning of a transformative movement aimed at empowering individuals and communities to reclaim their influence to reshape the trajectory of our democracy. We will be joined by U.S. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Congressman Ro Khanna, State Rep. Dylan Wegela (D - Garden City), State Rep. Donovan McKinney (D-Detroit), impacted community members, and the Taking Back Our Power coalition!

The Taking Back Our Power Coalition is advocating for a Michigan state law that comprehensively prohibits regulated monopoly corporations and corporations seeking government contracts from making state or local political contributions. This common sense reform would allow Michiganders to finally attain the accountable utility and essential services we deserve. We will be able to cast our votes knowing that our voices truly matter.

Join us for inspiring addresses by policy makers advocating for reclaiming power. Hear from Michiganders who’ve been adversely impacted by poor service from state contractors and monopoly corporations. Dive into a detailed campaign overview, exploring the strategic significance of the proposed legislation. Foster connections with community members and progressive organizations, building a sense of unity and shared purpose. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of a transformative movement shaping a more empowered and accountable future!
