Washington DC -- Today the Senate did not reach the required 67 votes to convict former President Donald Trump of the charge laid out in the Article of Impeachment.

Clean Water Action President and CEO, Bob Wendelgass, released the following statement:

“It’s disappointing but not surprising that 43 members of the Senate couldn’t move past their allegiance to the worst President in modern history and refused to hold him accountable. The President and his enablers, many of who are in Congress, spread lies about the election, fanned the flames of white supremacist violence, and encouraged the insurrection on January 6. They have been working to erase their culpability in the gravest assault on our institution and democracy ever since that day.

But history won’t forget what former President Trump did or that these Senators put partisan loyalty before their country.”
